The webinar will provide an overview of Georgia's property tax system with a focus on areas of importance to non-profit entities, such as exemption applications and administrative appeals. In addition, the presenters will briefly discuss other areas of Georgia tax law affecting non-profit entities, including issues concerning sales/use tax and income tax.
Charlie Kearns of Sutherland Asbill & Brennan focuses his practice on state and local tax planning and controversy, including state income, sales/use and payroll taxes. Charlie earned an LL.M. in Taxation from Georgetown University Law Center in 2005. He earned his J.D. as well as a B.C.L. from Louisiana State University School of Law. He received his B.A. in English from the University of North Carolina. From 2004-2005, Charlie was a Graduate Fellow at the Council On State Taxation (COST) in Washington, DC. As a Fellow, he worked directly with the COST staff in analyzing, reporting, and responding to significant administrative, judicial, and legislative developments throughout the country.
