What are the Qualifications for Membership in the Georgia Online Justice Community?



Georgia Online Justice Community Membership Requirements

Members of the GOJC:

  • Are law school graduates or are currently attending law school and participating in a law school clinic program or practicing under the student practice rule.
  • Members in good standing of the State Bar of Georgia. You may check your status by going to theweb site of the State Bar of Georgia -www.gabar.org.You may also be practicing through a law school clinic program or working under the student practice rule. If so, please indicate what law school you are attending and provide the name and contact information for your law school supervisor.
  • Pledge todo 50 hours of pro bonoservice per year. The ethics rules of the State Bar of Georgia ask that all attorneys provide 50 hours per year of free legal services to low-income clients or people who would otherwise be denied legal help. We understand that some years you may do more pro bono service and other years you may do less. As long as you report your pro bono activity eachyear and you show that you are providing an average of 50 hours of pro bono assistance each year,you may remain on the Pro Bono Rosterand maintain access to the Georgia Online Justice Community Resources.
  • Report pro bono activity to the State Bar of Georgia Pro Bono Project each year. You may report your activity on your annual bar dues statement. In the near future we may also provide an online reporting tool to collect more detailed information about the kinds of pro bono work you are doing (and to include you and consider you for our annual pro bono awards).
