What to Bring - Volunteers don't need to bring anything other than their completed release forms. It's best if they do NOT bring a purse, their own tools, or anything that may get lost or stolen. If someone does want to bring his/her own tools (hand tools only - no power tools please), please make sure they are clearly marked. Atlanta Habitat provides all tools and materials. Volunteers may want to bring a pair of work gloves.
What to Wear - Volunteers should wear comfortable clothing that they don't mind getting very dirty or painted. Loose fitting clothing is not recommended, nor is jewelry, as both could get caught on a nail, piece of lumber, etc. Steel-toed boots are the number one footwear fashion statement; with other work or hiking boots a runner up. Thick-soled athletic shoes are the final option. Open-toed shoes, loafers, or other shoes without traction are not allowed on site. Any volunteer wearing unacceptable shoes will be asked to leave the worksite.
Safety and Insurance - Please have everyone who will be on site read the attached brochure thoroughly before arrival. Also, the attached Release and Waiver of liability form needs to be brought to site, completed, by each volunteer. Please note that volunteers ages 16 and 17 must have a parent sign it also, so it must be completed before arriving on site.
