Trial Advocacy Seminar to benefit public interest lawyers

The Georgia Fellows of the American College of Trial Lawyers and the State Bar of Georgia Pro Bono Project will sponsor a two-day seminar, “Trial Advocacy for Public Interest Lawyers” on September 15th and 16th at the State Bar of Georgia Conference Center. The seminar will be the Fellows’ second such large-scale training for public interest lawyers.

The two-day training will feature noted ACTL attorneys. Prior trainers have included powerhouse litigators Jerry A. Buchanan, Claudia Saari, Chilton Varner, Jerry Buchanan, Ray Persons, Sally QuillianYates, former Georgia Governor Roy Barnes, Bernard Taylor, Richard Sinkfield, Dave Burch, Jon Peters, and Tony Cochran.

The training program attracts public interest lawyers from across Georgia, including attorneys from the Georgia Legal Services Program, the Georgia Law Center for the Homeless, the Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation, the Atlanta Legal Aid Society and lawyers who handle pro bono cases.

The 2009 ACTL public interest seminar organizers are Judson Graves of Alston & Bird, LLP and Jerry Buchanan, of the Columbus law firm of Buchanan and Land, LLP
