President Obama Announces Five Nominees to the LSC Board

On August 6, President Obama announced his intent to nominate several key administrative posts including five nominees to the board of the Legal Services Corporation (LSC). Those nominees are:

  • Robert J. Grey, Hunton & Williams, Virginia
  • John G. Levi, Sidley Austin, Illinois
  • Martha L. Minow, Harvard Law School, Massachusetts
  • Julie A. Reiskin, Colorado Cross-Disability Coalition, Colorado
  • Gloria Valencia-Weber, University of New Mexico School of Law, New Mexico

 

The White House made this announcement late yesterday and issued the following Press Release which includes biographical information about these nominees. Earlier this summer, Laura Mikva was confirmed by the Senate on June 19 as the first new appointment to the LSC Board. LSC is headed by an 11-member board of directors. The President's nomination of the five remaining LSC board member posts is expected this fall.
