Monday, May 17, 2010
- Organization: University of Georgia School of Law
Georgia Law’s Public Interest Fellowships foster the creation of programs for indigent Georgians with civil legal needs. Potential services include: courtroom representation, counsel and advice, assistance with personal or business planning, improved access to courts, or legal education. Fellowships are open to experienced attorneys with specific proposals for innovative, effective, and durable programs of legal service.
Each Fellow must propose a project and a host organization from which they will implement the project. Fellows work for two years, initially at the School of Law and later at the host organization. Fellows will work with law students throughout their fellowship and gain experience with clinical law teaching while at the law school. Fellows can take advantage of research and program development resources at the law school and the university while implementing their proposal.
The Fellowship Program pays each Fellow’s salary and benefits for the entire two-year period. Fellows also receive a travel and research stipend for each year of the Fellowship.
Applications for the 2010-12 Fellowship are due June 11, 2010.
