PART-TIME STAFF ATTORNEY-- GLSP/Pro Bono Project

POSITION: Georgia Legal Services Program seeks a part-time staff attorney to work in its Pro Bono Project. The Pro Bono Project is a joint project of GLSP and the State Bar of Georgia. The Project provides support and technical assistance to GLSP's pro bono efforts across Georgia, supports State Bar committees and sections, and local voluntary bar associations.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The attorney will work closely with the Project Director on technology and advocacy training programs; assist in identifying and developing technology to support the delivery of legal services by a range of advocates, including volunteer lawyers; and work on various projects with other attorneys and advocates. Some travel is required.
The position is a non-technical position that will help GLSP advocates understand how to best generate and maintain legal content that supports advocates and volunteer lawyers through technology innovations, work with community group stakeholders, market technology to volunteer lawyers and low-income clients, and evaluate its effectiveness. The Attorney will provide strategic, editorial and technological advice; work to increase involvement by groups and individuals with a strong interest in access to justice; and serve as a critical communication link among GLSP pro bono programs and among other stakeholder advocacy programs and the courts. Additionally, the Attorney will develop resource materials for website administrators; facilitate regular meetings among partners; and problem-solve project issues, conduct outreach and promote projects to diverse audiences.
QUALIFICATIONS: Graduate of accredited law school, member of Georgia Bar or willing to take next exam; demonstrated interest or experience in working with low-income persons; and will possess these qualifications:
Effective Communication, Working with Groups, and Public Speaking: Demonstrated ability to work well with people, coordinate or facilitate team projects, communicate effectively; comfortable with public speaking and training; ability to foster and facilitate collaborations creatively; excellent communication skills, particularly the ability to make technology understandable to people without technical skills.
Self-Motivation and Organization
Self-initiated, motivated, well-organized, able to work with minimal supervision; proven ability to prioritize and complete tasks efficiently; experience working with others virtually.
Project Management Experience and Nonprofit Experience
Proven project management skills. Ability to problem-solve; communicate with technical and non-technical audiences; experience or interest in working with civil legal services or public interest law organizations.
Technical Experience
Very web-savvy and experienced in using a variety of software applications (office suite and web-based tools). Some experience with web development. (This position is not a technical position, but must be willing to learn how the software operates and its functionality needed for programs.)
