The Savannah Bar Association and its Younger Lawyers Section honored GLSP Senior Staff Attorney Wanda Andrews with its Robert E. Robinson Award at its Law Day luncheon on May 10.

The award, given to honor those who promote justice through law, was named in honor of the late Mr. Robinson, a Savannah attorney killed in connection with his civil rights work.

Ms. Andrews was introduced at the luncheon by Judge James Bass, her former colleague at the Savannah GLSP Office. She was recognized for her long-term committment to the rights of victims of domestic violence.

Ms. Andrews, a member the Savannah GLSP staff since 1981, has been at the forefront of the Program's response to domestic violence. As a senior staff attorney, she has provided training throughout the 11-county service area of the Savannah Office to police and sheriff's departments, shelter workers, attorneys, representatives of the military and others. She serves on the Board of Directors of the Savannah Area Family Shelter (SAFE Shelter) and is active on several task forces addressing domestic violence issues. She also provides sound day-to-day representation to those she represents and has garnered the respect of judges, attorneys, shelter workers, clients and others with whom she has worked.

The Savannah GLSP Office is very happy to have one of its own so honored.
