(MACON, GA, August 2007) Eligible consumers in rural counties south of Atlanta, who are seeking legal assistance with their manufactured housing or mobile home related legal problems, may be eligible for assistance through the Georgia Legal Services Program’s (GLSP) Manufactured Housing Project. The Project is staffed by Tomieka R. Daniel, Esq., GLSP’s Consumer Law Fellow, and funded by a grant from the National Consumer Law Center. The Project will operate in 59 south Georgia counties normally served by GLSP’s regional offices located in Albany, Valdosta, Columbus, and Waycross.
The Manufactured Housing Project will represent purchasers who have experienced fraud, deception, or misrepresentation in the sale, financing, or foreclosure of their manufactured housing. The Project will also address the needs of those renting manufactured housing by providing assistance with issues related to the rental of the land on which their home is located or with the rental of their manufactured housing. Consumers seeking assistance with manufactured housing issues should contact 1-800-498-9469 to be directed to their local Georgia Legal Services Program office for assistance.
The mission of the Georgia Legal Services Program is to provide access to justice and opportunities out of poverty for Georgians with low-incomes in 154 counties outside metro-Atlanta.
