Georgia Legal Services Program (GLSP), the Prosperity Project of the Atlanta Community Food Bank, and AARP will be coordinating their efforts to reach over 200,000 people in Georgia who are eligible for an Economic Stimulus Payment for 2007, but may not be aware of it.
On Wednesday, August 27th, from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM, there will be a webcast accessible to anyone from using a computer. Presenters include representatives from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS); Carter Elliot , Manager of the Prosperity Project of ACFB, and representatives from Georgia AARP.
The webcast will include: (1) Who is eligible for the Economic Stimulus Payments for 2007 (2) What specific steps must they take in order to receive the ESP; (3) Special outreach efforts that are planned by PP/ACFB; AARP; and GLSP.
Why is this so important? Thousands of Georgians qualify for the ESP for 2007, BUT, they are not obligated to file a tax return. If they do not file an abbreviated federal tax return by this October 15th, they will never receive it. Given the increasing prices of basic food, gas, heating, low and moderate income Georgians need all the benefits they are entitled to.
