Large amounts of federal dollars have already begun coming into Georgia from Washington, D. C. as a result of the ARRA (American Recovery and Reinvestment Act) passed by Congress earlier this year and signed into law by President Obama. Given the adverse impact of the economic downturn on low and moderate income families in our state, it is crucial to understand exactly what monies are available, and how families can access those funds.

During the webcast/training, 6 key areas will be addressed: Making Work Pay/ Tax Credits; Child Care; Job Training; Food Stamps; Health Care; Unemployment Compensation. We'll also cover the provisions impacting Social Security recipients, and optional TANF funding. Dr. Michael Rich (Emory University) will address "Poverty & Child and Family Well-being in Georgia: What do the Numbers Tell Us", an overview of trends over the past decade in poverty, income, employment, educational attainment, and health for Georgia children and families.

Presenters: Nancy Lindbloom, Linda Lowe, Mary Irene Dickerson (Georgia Legal Services Program); Dr. Michael Rich (Emory University)
