The Saturday Lawyer Program has been improved and restructured both to focus on legal representation that
promotes economic stability in the client community and to give attorneys more options for how they wish to
volunteer. Cases available through this program will focus on (1) securing unpaid wages (2) defending clients against
debt lawsuits and garnishments (including zombie debt and debt that includes unlawful fees and penalties) and
(3) promoting habitable and safe housing and ensuring return of security deposits. This training will give volunteers
the resources they need to provide assistance in these substantive areas. Participants may choose to attend one,
two or all three sections of this program, depending on the types of cases they are most interested in handling.
Poor and working class people are struggling now more than ever to maintain housing and financial security for their
families. Please get involved in this program so that you are equipped to provide much needed legal assistance.
